Call for Artists to Participate in the 2026 Malta Biennale The Malta Heritage Agency of Malta invites local and international artists wishing to submit projects in accordance with the conceptual framework for the second edition of the Malta Biennale. • Financial Support: Guidelines and Regulations 1. This financial support applies to all individual artists participating in the 2026 Malta Biennale. 2. The maximum amount allowed per project is thirteen thousand euros. 3. The financial support application will only be valid upon approval of participation in the 2026 Malta Biennale. • Costs that may be covered - Artist fees (to be proposed by the participating artist upon final approval by the curatorial team). - Equipment rental/purchase (equipment purchases will only be considered if deemed essential to the project; planned expenses cannot be included prior to application submission). - Travel costs (for artists traveling to Malta to participate in the Malta Biennale). - Accommodation costs (for artists traveling to Malta to participate in the Malta Biennale). - Production costs. - Emergency funding, not to exceed 100% of the total project cost. • Budget Artists must attach a detailed budget statement with their applications. • Application Guidelines - Artists may apply at any stage of their career (both emerging and established) and from any country. - Artists may submit one or more artworks. - Submitted artworks and project proposals may be site-specific or space-specific, new artworks, or may form part of the artist's existing portfolio. - Acceptable media include all forms of visual art: installation, photography, sculpture, three-dimensional artwork, performance, photography, and video. Interdisciplinary and collaborative projects are also welcome. - Each selected artist will receive a grant of up to thirteen thousand euros (€13,000) to support their participation in the Biennale. - If applying as a team of artists, please ensure that the names of all participating artists are entered in the designated field (e.g., artist's name, artist's surname, etc.). If the participating team has a name, please enter it in the CV section. In this case, the team will be awarded a grant of up to €13,000. • Timeline Applications will be submitted via the online form available at https://maltabiennale.art/ no later than June 30, 2025. The curatorial team will review applications received before the deadline. During this stage, the curatorial team may contact the applicant(s) for clarification purposes. A notice will be sent confirming that all applications submitted will be received and treated with the utmost confidentiality. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
