Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company City of Arts and Culture April 26 - May 20 2026 Capital Sculpture Symposium
The Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company launched the inaugural Capital Sculpture Symposium, which will be held from April 26 to May 20, 2026, at the City of Arts and Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
The symposium aims to provide a specialized platform to support the art of sculpture and offer artists the opportunity to present contemporary works inspired by the richness of Egyptian heritage. This will strengthen cultural communication between creators and the public, in addition to supporting the state's direction towards integrating the arts into major urban projects as a key element in shaping a balanced and sustainable urban environment.
For her part, Dr. Gihan Zaki, Minister of Culture, affirmed that the symposium comes within the framework of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic to activate the "State of Arts and Creativity" initiative, similar to the "State of Recitation" initiative, stressing the importance of art in building aesthetic awareness. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, explained that the event represents a step towards transforming the new capital into an open-air museum of contemporary sculpture. For his part, artist Ehab El-Labban, the symposium's artistic director, stated that the inaugural edition is hosting 15 Egyptian sculptors from different generations, representing a selection of the most prominent artists on the Egyptian art scene, who have contributed to enriching the cultural and artistic landscape with their work. Participating artists in this edition include Ahmed Abdel Fattah, Ahmed Moussa, Hassan Kamel, Sherif Abdel Badi, Shaimaa Darwish, Abdel Aziz Saab, Essam Darwish, Ola Moussa, Kamal El-Feky, Mohamed Abdallah, Maysoun El-Zorba, Nathan Doss, Nagi Farid, Hany Faisal, and Hesham Abdallah.
