We invite you to the opening of the sculpture exhibition “PAREIDOLIA” by artist Ayman Abu Khozaym. Sunday, September 14, 2025 | 7 PM Gallery Misr, Zamalek On view until October 8. Gallery Misr kicks off its art season with “PAREIDOLIA” by artist Ayman Abu Khozaym, which opens on Sunday, September 14, at 7 PM, in the presence of a group of artists. In this exhibition, Abu Khozaym does not present sculptures in the traditional sense, nor does he focus on complete human features or a recognizable figure. Rather, he cleverly sculpts on the edge of perception, at the point where it is no longer clear whether the eye is seeing something real or merely imagining its existence. Wood here is not just a material, but a living entity, in which images spontaneously generate and, over time, transform into a surface that invites participation from the recipient, their personal imagination, and their distant memory. Abu Khazim says of his experience: “It expresses the harmonious unity between nature, humanity, and mythology. This tombstone offers a unique perspective on the aesthetic integration and cohesion of various life forms, by vividly depicting elements of vegetables or fruits, appearing as an integrated being with four legs, eyes, and a mouth, a human face with limbs, and the head of a hoopoe. Sometimes, the sculptures reflect this unique connection between natural and spiritual components.”
He added: “My experience represents a contemporary story of the beautiful interplay of colors, where plants merge with aspects of humanity and myth in a scene that tells a story of the integration of life. It expresses the power of art to reshape our daily reality and our understanding of the endless connection between humans and nature. It evokes the philosophy of birds and animals in ancient Egyptian culture in a way that makes it tell an ongoing story of harmony and beauty.” Artist Ayman Abu Khazim Artist Ayman Abu Khazim was born in Cairo in 1984.
