Dr. Walid Qanoush, Head of the Fine Arts Sector, and the artist Mustafa Al -Sheikh, President of the Egyptian Cartoon Association, inaugurated the third Egyptian cartoon festival exhibition, on Thursday, December 7, at five in the evening, in the Nahdet Misr and Isis halls at Mahmoud Mukhtar Cultural Center in Al -Jazeera, in the presence of a group of artists and media professionals Members of the Egyptian Cartoon Association and cartoonists.
The artist Mustafa Al -Sheikh said: The edition of this year of the third Egyptian cartoonist came bearing the name of the great creator "Zuhdi Al -Adawi", the founder of the Egyptian Cartoon Association, who is strongly attended by this exhibition along with more than 140 works from the generation of pioneers to contemporary.
The Sheikh added; The names of the winners of the Rakha Caricatures Prizes will be announced, which are 3 financial awards provided by the family of the late artist Mohamed Abdel Moneim Rakha, the first prize is 3000 pounds, the second 2000 pounds, and the third is 1000 pounds, along with two awards for distinguished creations, which are original fees provided by the artist Amr Fahmy Today's news artist, Ibrahim Al -Atii, Raed El -Marj Khait, was the jury, which included the artist Mohamed Ruler, the artist Amr Selim, and the artist Farouk Moussa, chose 5 winners of the awards.
The artist Fawzi Morsi, the general coordinator of the exhibition, indicated; This copy of the cartoon feast is a gift to our brothers in Gaza, the patient and the steadfastness who oppress their steadfastness, patience, sacrifices, and martyrs of the brutality of the occupier, and includes a set of works with the aim of supporting the Palestinian issue and solidarity with our people in Palestine.
He added that this session is attended by a group of contemporary cartoonist pioneers and artists, headed by the artist Zuhdi Al -Adawi, the founder of the Egyptian Caricature Association, and the artist Abdel Moneim Rakha, the headmaster of the Egyptian cartoon school, and among the paintings offered by the works of the artist Abdel Aziz Taj, the honorary president of the Egyptian Cartoon Association, George Bahjouri , Ahmed Alawi, Faraj Hassan, and the late great artists Picar, Toughan, Mustafa Hussein, Salah Al -Laithi, Mohamed Effat, Juma Farhat, and other pioneers alongside most contemporary creative cartoonists.
The opening program also includes a Live portrait for the audience and visitors of the exhibition, with a brush of youth in Egypt, led by Dr. Mohamed Hamdi, member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Cartoon Association.
The exhibition comes within the framework of the celebration of the third Egyptian cartoonist, organized by the Egyptian Cartoon Association in cooperation with the plastic arts sector, and will continue until December 16, 2023.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Cartoon Association chose on November 7 of each year to be a feast for the Egyptian cartoon, which corresponds to the anniversary of the artist Mohamed Abdel Moneim Rakha, the pioneer of the art of Egyptian cartoon, and the feast will be annually to tell the new generations the role of this art in the lives of the Egyptians and the greatness of its influence.
