Safarkhan is honored to pay tribute to Egypt’s most versatile modern artist, Salah Abdel Karim (1925–1988), on the centenary of his birth, from November 19 to December 10, with a remarkable selection of artworks and personal essays, complemented by a collection of special dedications for this event from the private collections of Safarkhan and his estate heirs.
In the history of 20th-century Egyptian art, Salah Abdel Karim remains a unique figure, and his art embodies Safarkhan founder Sherwit Shafei’s motto: “The power of art transcends.” Abdel Karim was a transformer of meaning and materiality. “The Philosopher of Form” by Salah Abdel Karim (1925–1988) opens next Wednesday, November 19, at 6:00 PM.
