Minister of Culture: The Adam Henein Competition is a Real Opportunity to Shed Light on New Artistic Experiences That Enrich the Egyptian Fine Arts Movement
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, attended the award ceremony for the ninth edition of the Adam Henein Sculpture Competition 2025, organized by the Adam Henein Art Foundation. The ceremony was held at the Hanager Arts Center. The ceremony was attended by director Khaled Galal, Head of the Theater Sector; Dr. Essam Darwish, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees; Dr. Tarek El-Komy, Head of the Fine Artists Syndicate; and a group of writers, intellectuals, and public figures.
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano said: "The Adam Henein Sculpture Competition is one of the most prominent platforms supporting young talents in the field of sculpture. It represents a real opportunity to shed light on new artistic experiences that enrich the Egyptian fine arts movement. We at the Ministry of Culture are keen to support such initiatives that contribute to the discovery of promising creative energies and support the process of cultural and artistic development." The Minister of Culture commended the efforts of the Adam Henein Foundation to instill the values ​​of artistic creativity, as well as those involved in organizing this successful edition, wishing continued success to all participants. Dr. Essam Darwish, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, said: "This year witnessed a great turnout of 189 contestants, 43 of whom reached the finals. He thanked the judging committee for their great efforts in selecting the winning artists, as well as those who reached the finals.
This year also witnessed many achievements by the Adam Henein Foundation for Fine Arts, whether through the Adam Henein Competitions for Pre-University Education Stages or the "My Village" Competition, which coincides with the "Decent Life" initiative. Both competitions witnessed a great turnout from various governorates of the Republic, and each competition demonstrated a promising artistic level for our children in primary, preparatory, and secondary schools. He also thanked Dr. Ahmed Fouad Heno, Minister of Culture, for his support of this year's awards ceremony, as well as the distinguished director Khaled Galal, Head of the Theater Sector, for his constant interest in the Adam Henein Award for Sculpture activities.
The event included the presentation of awards to the top three winners, and certificates of appreciation were given to 39 participants who reached the finals. The finalists were also honored, along with the jury members of this session, which included: architect Akram El-Magdoub, Commissar of the Aswan International Sculpture Symposium; visual artist Sherif Abdel Badie; artist Dr. Mohamed Radwan, former Head of the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University; visual artist Nagi Farid; and visual artist Nazli Madkour.
The competition awards were as follows:
First prize went to artist Abdel Rahman Fayed; second prize went to artist Mahmoud Sami Keshk; and third prize went to artist Essam Ashmawy. The jury recommended that an Encouragement Award be given to artist Nourhan Ayman Qandil. The event also included classical pieces by Rameau, Chopin, and Christian Sinneding, performed by pianist Dr. Merit Hanna from the Cairo Conservatory. A short documentary film, presented by Gamal Hosni, Director of the Exhibitions Department at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, highlighted the achievements of the Adam Henein Foundation during 2024, in addition to the opening of the art exhibition in the Adam Henein Hall, which includes the winning works and those participating in the final selections. The exhibition will run from April 28 to May 2.
