Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno was born on the thirteenth of December 1968. He obtained a BA in the Faculty of Fine Arts, “Etching Department,” in 1992, and an MA in “Experimental Animation Films” from Cairo University in 1997. He obtained a doctorate in the philosophy of art, specializing in “Communication.” Visual and animation film creation.
Dr. Ahmed Hanno, Minister of Culture, is considered one of the founders of “Galala National University”, and he held a number of positions there, including: “Vice President for Student Affairs in 2023, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design in 2021.” He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University. 2019.
He was also assigned to work at a number of universities, including: “The German University in Cairo, the Nile International University, and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universities of Minya and Mansoura.”
He has been an active member of the Fine Artists Syndicate since 1992, a member of the Animation Artists Syndicate, and the Fine Arts Lovers Association.
Hanno has received many awards and honors, most notably: “Best Design Award for Animated Film at the Arab Animation Forum in 2014, and Best Director Award at the Cairo International Animated Film Festival in 2020.”
He also received: “The Excellence Award at the Luxor Forum for African Arts in 2020, and Helwan University’s Honor for General Excellence” in 2021.
Dr. Ahmed Hanno, Minister of Culture, assumed the presidency of the Cairo International Animation Forum - affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund of the Ministry of Culture - in 2022.
He was chosen to be a member of a number of committees, including: “The Committee for Examining Productions to Obtain the State Encouragement Awards in Arts and Letters - at the Supreme Council of Culture in 2021 -, the Supreme Committee for the Luxor International Photography Forum in 2020 and 2021, the Scientific Committee for Preparing Museum Display Scenarios at the Ministry of Antiquities, the Program and Course Description Committee.” Educational and academic studies for technological universities in 2018, the Coordination Committee for Public Squares and Places - affiliated with the National Organization for Cultural Coordination -, the Scientific and Evaluation Committee for Scientific and Technical Research Submitted to the German Academic Exchange Service.
