Mounira Mousli (1954 - 2019) is a Saudi painter, and a pioneer of plastic art in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She was born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 1954 AD, and graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1974. Then she obtained a diploma in design art from the United States of America in 1979. In the same year, she joined the Saudi Aramco company as responsible for publications in the Public Relations Department, and then moved to Bahrain to devote herself to art.
In 1994, she was chosen to work as an art specialist in the Arab Gulf Program for the Support of United Nations Development Organizations. She founded the Art Festival in the city of Al-Khobar in 2007. She was the first to artistically present the concept of Islamic painting that accompanies manuscripts, and presented it through a group of her artworks that she called “Al-Wasiti and I.” She presented a number of artistic studies that were published in local and Arab newspapers, the most important of which are two studies on children’s art and its relationship to society. Senior plastic artists also participated in major exhibitions in the Arab Gulf and the Middle East. And she won many appreciation awards from Arab and international bodies and art institutions.
She was one of the first plastic artists to hold a plastic exhibition in the city of Jeddah. Her first joint exhibition was with the artist Safia bin Zagr, which was held at the Modern Education School in 1968, and then her first private exhibition in 1972 in the city of Jeddah. Her last exhibition was in Dubai in 2016.

Her paintings are characterized by daring, combining painting and sculpture, and using various materials, including palm trees, wood, papyrus, oysters, plants, handmade paper, and natural dyes, in addition to her use of the collage technique. She also introduced old wooden windows to give her works a sense of reality mixed with imagination.

her death
Munira Mousli died in 2019 in the city of Jeddah and was buried there, at the age of 64, after suffering from a disease in the kidneys. After her death, the Minister of Culture, Badr bin Farhan, directed that the name of the artist Munira Mously be given to one of the art galleries in Saudi Arabia, in appreciation of the art she presented during her career that lasted for nearly a quarter of a century.
