Medicine and art when they meet with Dr. Asaad Ghattas
Academic excellence was one of his characteristics from a young age. This child excelled academically and also artistically, so he began to practice drawing as a hobby when he was young. When he joined medical school, drawing was the greatest entertainment and absorption of the pressures of study and medical work. Practicing charcoal drawing in his spare time and vacations was a haven for the artist-doctor Asaad Anis Ghattas. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, and worked as an internal medicine and cardiology consultant in Alexandria. He practiced fine art almost daily in addition to his work. His talent for drawing began to appear in his first years of school. He received encouragement from the art teachers at school and participated in some school competitions. Practicing fine art alongside the work of Dr. Asaad Ghattas is very important to absorb stress and satisfy his hobby, which he loves. When I asked him whether your studies served your talent, he told me that medicine greatly enriched his talent. His study and knowledge of the formal skeletal anatomy of humans, as well as the psychological and emotional details, made him depict a scene or feeling with more accuracy and professionalism.
At a young age, he began to practice drawing with pencils and charcoal, and then moved to drawing with oils and acrylics. He leaned more towards the realistic school, which was sometimes mixed with influenceism.
He participated in 26 group exhibitions inside Egypt...in Al-Ahram Hall - Al-Sawy Culturewheel - Cairo Opera House - Lamasat Gallery - Cleopatra Gallery...in Cairo.
The Russian Cultural Center in Alexandria, the Greek Cultural Center in Alexandria, the Anfoushi Culture Palace, the Alexandria Opera House, the Faculty of Fine Arts in Alexandria, the Vermilion Gallery in Bloom International Gallery... in Alexandria.
And exhibitions abroad in Belgium and Russia
He held the first special exhibition at the Russian Cultural Center in Alexandria in March 2022...in the name of the Other Alexandria...a description of the daily life of the people of Alexandria and the fishermen.
The second special exhibition...at the Egyptian Opera House in Cairo...its name is The Good Land...it is concerned with the life of the Egyptian countryside, the land, the Egyptian farmer...and some Egyptian landmarks. It has some individual collections in Egypt and America along with some art enthusiasts.
His most important aspiration is to continue practicing painting...and exhibiting in more exhibitions abroad
When medicine combines with any of the other arts, we find a wonderful distinction because studying the human body with the many miracles and divine creativity that God has created makes the artist closer to Sufism in the niche of art.
