المملكة العربية السعودية - الدوادمي SAUDI ARABIA - Dawadmi,
The artist and poet Saud bin Abdullah Al-Daribi, born in 1956 AD, is a member of the (Art and Future) group of Arab plastic artists, a member of the ISIS Hall for Culture and Arts, and the owner of the “Ams” Arts Hall in Dawadmi, which he opened in 2007 AD. He holds a diploma in the Arab Republic of Egypt in 2007. 1976 AD, and a diploma in the United States of America in 1980 AD. He also took many courses and participated in holding more than one exhibition. He won many awards and collectibles. He also won an acquisition award at the Regions Exhibition in 2001 AD and 2002 AD. He designed and implemented several field models in the Kingdom. Many artists, a number of community figures, and many figures from the Arab world acquired it. We had this meeting with him to present him to the reader in a more comprehensive way. “Yesterday Art Hall” is a personal art hall that was opened some time ago. Where did this idea come from? - From my external participations, I found that major artists had such a professional, and we here lack such a person, so I decided to create it. What does this hall contain? It contains a showroom, a workshop, a garden that includes rocks, housing for those who want to train, and a library. What are your goals for establishing it? - Providing the appropriate climate for training, holding exhibitions for artists from abroad, and communicating with external galleries and studios. How do you see people’s interest in such a hall and in art exhibitions in general? - Unfortunately, it is low compared to what the artists offer through their individual efforts, which deserve to be supported by all sides. During our visit to the hall, we saw that it embraces the works of the late artist Abdullah Al-Abdullatif (may God have mercy on him). What does this artist mean to you? - He is a childhood friend and relative, and his mark is clear and influential in Saudi art. He is a credit to all the sculpture artists in Dawadmi, and I felt obligated to cherish the presence of his works in my hall as a sign of gratitude to him (may God have mercy on him). Since Al-Amsa Hall is the first personal arts hall in Dawadmi...do you intend to host one of Dawadmi’s artists? - I don't mind, some of them trained there. In one of your press interviews, you attacked Dawadmi artists. Why, when you are one of them? - I did not attack them, and if you see me as being harsh towards them, that is because I treat them like a sculpture. I work on it with my hammer and chisel so that the good side comes out of it and it increases its brilliance. This stems from my love for them and they know that. Do you think that the media is negligent against artists and art? - Rather, I think it is unfair if we compare it to those who share this name with us, such as singers and actors, who occupy the lion’s share of the media share, even though survival is ours. The city of Dawadmi is full of artists, but we do not see any exhibitions held on its land.. Why? - There is no exhibition hall in Dawadmi except for a hall in the Department of Education and the Shield Club hall, which are not always available to all artists. This is with the knowledge that we are trying to draw attention to the city of Dawadmi, so we have to display it outside its land. You were previously under the auspices of youth and now under the Ministry of Culture and Information. Have you noticed a difference in that? - There are not many differences, as each administration has its own men, and I am pleased to praise the efforts of Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Sabeel, but the administration of plastic arts did not change, as they moved on and remained in their old style, which angered many artists and they abandoned their dealings with the ministry. Many wonder where the poet Saud Al-Daribi is? - Saud Al-Daribi, Ahasas Group. I am a poet, painter, singer, actor, and decorator, but my ambition rose to sculpture because it is the harshest type of art, and I am one of those who enjoy difficulties. Did the roughness of the sculpture overshadow the tenderness of the poetry within you? You may describe the sculpture as rough, but the delicacy of the sculpture may match the delicacy of the poem. In addition, many people can hold a pen and write their feelings in a poem, but it is rare to find someone who holds a chisel and sculpts his feelings, and this is what is required. Can you express the idea with both a poem and a sculpture? - Yes, there are many sculptures accompanied by poems, and that is what is unique to me. If you read the poem and see the sculpture, you will reach the same idea that you aimed to convey to the recipient. What is the hardest rock to carve? - I always answer those who ask me this question with a poem, the beginning of which says: They said, “What is harder than a rock that I have carved?” I said, “The rock in my memory is not strong. If I were to compare it with humans, in my memory, its hardness is nothing. They brought a stone to its owner once for treachery, and a human complains of a human’s betrayal.” To what? Artist Saud Al-Daribi seeks after the opening of the hall? - I am seeking a plan that will be subject to a timetable, including, but not limited to, holding multiple exhibitions with artists from the Eastern Province, such as the artist Zaman Jassim, Abdulaziz Al-Damen, and Dr. Ilham Jan, from Jeddah, and attracting artists from abroad, such as the artist Ahmed Al-Ganaini from Egypt and Majid Al-Baydani. from Iraq.
