"Meet"… A Path Inward!
In the lexicon of our ancient Egyptian ancestors, the word "Meet" signifies a path—not a geographical route traversed by foot toward a material destination, but rather a hidden, spiritual passage that lifts us from the depths of external clamor, guiding us toward the innermost, most tranquil realms of our being. Here, the sculptures do not emerge merely as abstract forms filling a void; instead, they manifest as living beings—reflections of ourselves—that have intuitively learned to retreat into their own essence to find rest, adopting silence as a protective shield and the freedom of choice as an alternative home. In my hands, bronze has never been merely a medium for inert shaping; it is a living substance pulsating with memory. Here, tangible, raw, and coarse textures intersect with illusory ones, driving the drama of the artwork. This sculptural interplay takes center stage, deepening and giving form to profound emotional resonance. These cracked surfaces—with their dense undulations and dark, deep-toned hues—are nothing less than an archive of time; a living map that traces the marks of fractures, the endurance of patience, and the long journey along the path.

Zahwa Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening of "MYT: A Path Inward," a solo sculpture exhibition by Amany Fawzy, on Saturday, November 7th, at 6:00 PM.

Amany Fawzy "Amunzie" (b.1972)
Sculptor and ceramic artist with over 33 years of professional experience in contemporary visual art. She has long experience as a professor at the Faculty of Art Education, Capital University. In her practice, clay becomes a medium for reflection on memory and existence, transforming mass into a space for visual contemplation rather than direct representation. Her works emerge from an intimate engagement with material, where forms become silent entities bearing the imprint of time and human emotion.
Her approach is expressive and experimental, drawing inspiration from the human figure and nature, while exploring the delicate balance between mass and void, stillness and transformation. The human form appears as a trace or visual resonance rather than a literal depiction, while space plays an active role in shaping meaning. Surfaces serve as archives of gesture, pressure, and the layered processes of creation.
She has participated in major solo and group exhibitions in Egypt, including the Palace of Arts at Cairo Opera House, Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum, Mahmoud Said Museum in Alexandria, and Gezira Art Center, alongside leading contemporary galleries in Cairo.
Internationally, her works have been exhibited in museums and cultural institutions in Serbia, Croatia, and Germany, as well as in exhibitions and art events at both the local and international levels.
In addition to her artistic practice, Fawzy brings extensive expertise as a juror and member of multiple committees in the arts and cultural sector, contributing professionally to the evaluation of artworks and exhibitions at institutional and professional levels.
Her works are held in public and institutional collections, including the Egyptian
