The calligrapher and visual artist Sultan Al-Issa explained, “The Hurufi School arose from man’s love for Arabic calligraphy, his great passion for it, and his desire to highlight its letters through an artistic path in another form, in which color and letter are mixed in a wonderful artistic way, according to the capabilities and feelings of each artist.” He revealed that “every artist has his own method, style, and feeling, from which he starts in creating his letterform painting, and this is based on visual nourishment, broad culture, and artistic sense, as these factors contribute to forming a special path for the artist according to the capabilities and talents God has given him, which he develops.” He adapts it in his own way to produce a wonderful work of art that belongs to the Hurufi school.” Regarding the conditions for introducing letters into fine art, Al-Issa said: “There are no conditions for introducing letters into artistic works, but the artist must be familiar with the art of Arabic calligraphy, and extensively practice one of the types of calligraphy known to calligraphers.” He praised the role of calligraphers in this field, stressing that they contributed to enriching the artistic scene. “Calligraphy painting is based on Arabic calligraphy and its aesthetics, and several names have emerged in this school, including the artist Muhammad Al-Ajlan, Zaman Jassim, Youssef Ibrahim, and Mohsen Gharib, who presented wonderful works.” “It had a great impact in enriching the artistic scene.”
